Larry Jones owns the agency, and due to his background in agriculture, the agency started out specializing in Farming and Agri-Business related clients. After graduation from Glenville State College in 1976, Larry returned home to West Union, WV with a business degree and became an agent for the Farm Family Insurance Companies. In 1984, he moved his family and his insurance practice to Mason County, WV. In 1987, after a terrible drought, the agency began offering crop insurance and became the largest writer of crop insurance in WV.
In 2001, Larry obtained his registration to sell Mutual Funds and Variable products, and so the dba of Point Financial Services was registered with the state of WV. Even though Larry gave up his registration after two years and no longer offers variable products, the name stuck because insurance products and services are financial in nature. After all, they insure a family's or a business's financial future against economic disaster.
Through all the evolving changes in the industry and their practice specifically, the agency has flourished both by good planning and by good fortune. Today, Point Financial Services is well-positioned to serve their clients by offering products through national companies like Safeco, Hartford, State Auto, MetLife, Encompass, Progressive, Foremost, Dairyland, Golden Rule, Blue Cross & Blue Shield, and Rural Community Insurance Service, along with Regional carriers such as Farmers & Mechanics, Municipal Mutual, Celina Group, and West Virginia National.
