Today the claims process is becoming more streamlined, with many companies establishing toll-free hotlines to speed up the prompt claim service you have every right to expect. However, when you call the claims hotline, the companies procedures are to log a claim on your behalf. That allows them to keep notes on the conversation. However, it also lists a claim incident in your policy record which cannot be removed even if your situation might not result in a payable claim.

If you don't see your company listed here, please E-mail us or call during regular business hours to report your claim to our office so we can get it submitted promptly.
Your agent is not supposed to get involved in settling your claim, since to do so would be a conflict of interest. The claims process is handled by the company and the adjuster. That helps to establish a checks-and-balances to make sure everyone has done their job properly.
